THE ROLE

The Leave Programs Specialist is highly skilled in interacting with employees in a way that builds trust. Engaging employees with exceptional communication skills and administering the day-to day Leave and COVID-19 programs to include accommodation events. Serves as liaison with vendor, employees and various internal customers utilizing their expertise in FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, ADA, etc. The Leave Programs Specialist will interact with employees to learn and empathize about their situations while building detailed documentation that can define best course of action and support employees in the Leave process. This role will collaborate with HRBPs, Benefits, Payroll, HR, Legal and managers across Pharmavite.

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:

  • Strong critical-thinking, fact-finding for a complete understanding of the employee's issues or concerns
  • Identify root cause; make a decision and be able to communicate effectively recommended solutions to employee
  • Interpret, implement, and apply HR processes, programs, policies and procedures; recommend program enhancements
  • Ability to manage complex problems, identify procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • The role will work closely with established external vendor and internal partners including HRBPs, Benefits, Payroll, HR, Legal and managers, while still maintaining employee's confidential information
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations, while maintaining attention to detail
  • Work independently, yet able to be an effective and supportive team player

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is recognized as a trusted HR partner to the business. You are highly skilled in FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, ADA, etc. that communicates with employees and leave vendor to coordinate frustration-free case management support during entire leave and/or accommodation process that could include workers' compensation. In addition to Leave of Absence experience, you may have hands-on experience as an HR generalist, and related technical expertise in multiple areas of HR (e.g. employee relations, safety, change management, benefits, etc.). The ideal candidate has passion for the health and wellness industry.

You'll be most successful in this role if you have:

  • Strong functional capabilities in leave of absence, ADA accommodation, workers' comp and COVID programs
  • Ability to recommend process improvement and assist with new procedural implementations
  • Driven by a strong internal desire to impact the organization with a proven track record of client relations, follow-through and execution, attention to detail, and communication
  • Builds high quality relationships across the organization and at all levels;
  • Participate in advancing multiple initiatives in a fast paced which includes a changing 24/7 manufacturing plant and business environment; willingness to work the schedule that may be required
  • Adept with coaching front line manufacturing employees, supervisors and managers

In order to take on these challenges, you'll need to have:

  • Requires an Associate degree in Business Administration, human resources or related field, or equivalent years of experience
  • Five years of progressive experience in coordinating leave cases (FMLA, STD), with workers' compensation claims and COVID programs exposure a plus
  • Broad benefits knowledge and general human resource experience is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of Leave of Absence tools and technology to organize and analyze information and convert related activities into a comprehensive work plan
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
