The Set-Up Mechanic, Compressing is responsible for cleaning, installing tooling and assembling all ancillary parts of Compressing equipment to ensure production of quality products in accordance with set standards. Also responsible for performing routine maintenance on machinery.

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:

  • Cleans Compressing equipment and associated parts including disassembling, steam cleaning, wiping, rinsing and polishing in compliance with set hygienic standards.
  • Assembles Compressing equipment and ancillary parts.
  • Inspects and tests equipment to ensure product will meet pre-determined specifications.
  • Trouble-shoots malfunctions in equipment and performs minor electrical and mechanical repair to equipment using small hand tools.
  • Performs preventive maintenance daily including inspecting moving parts, greasing/lubricating as necessary.
  • Maintains a wide variety of routine records including those on tools, dies, service, cleaning, and calibration logs.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with safety rules, standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.
  • Performs any/all of the duties of a Compression Operator.
  • Applies Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to charge and yield products.
  • Performs simple computer tasks to analyze test results using graphs (SPC data charts).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate is passionate about process improvement and is highly motivated to discover root causes of repeat failures. You work well in a team environment and freely share your technical expertise with others. You are solution oriented requiring minimal supervision and can take lead on special projects as assigned. You are flexible to change course to meet production demands.

You'll be most successful in this role if you have:
  • Very effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Mechanical skills to effectively maintain, troubleshoot, and perform routine repairs to complex precision equipment. Typically, these skills result from one to three years working experience in similar positions.
  • The ability to operate standard hand tools skills.
  • Experience with calipers, micrometer, magnaflux machine preferred.
  • Fluent English oral, reading and writing skills to communicate equipment problems with others, read/understand operating manuals, and maintain written maintenance and repair records.
  • Working knowledge of compression operations; prefer knowledge of process equipment associated with manufacture of solid and liquid forms.

In order to take on these challenges, you'll need to have:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Stand/walk for full work shift. Pull, push and lift parts of equipment. Squat/reach to complete repair/maintenance on equipment.
  • A working knowledge of the compressing operations, typically resulting from one to three years experience.
