The Senior Packaging Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in managing key company new product developments. This position will participate in consumer insights and marketing programs and applies those learnings to deliver innovative new packaging. As a Sr. Packaging Engineer, you will deliver packaging technologies that provide innovative, cost effective products that deliver unique features which delight consumers. The Sr. Packaging Engineer reports to the Packaging Engineering Manager.

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:

  • Leads multiple packaging projects across multiple locations. Including new products, cost savings initiatives, and packaging improvements.
  • Provide technical thought leadership, collaborating with cross-functional leaders to assess business opportunities, develop concepts and prototypes that will delight consumers.
  • Leverages industry knowledge and internal resources, including Procurement and Legal, in the creation of partnerships and joint development programs with vendors, consultants, universities or other research organizations.
  • Designs and coordinates laboratory and plant tests, utilizing principles of Design of Experiment, to assess technical feasibility in the qualification of packages, materials and vendors.
  • Researches and leverages strategic and business sense in order to recommend machinery and line upgrades with emphasis on capacity, output and cost control.

To take on these challenges, you'll need to have:

  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills
  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication
  • Familiar with ASTM, TAPPI and ISTA testing methodologies
  • Proven interpersonal skills to positively affect results of cross-functional and internal teams
  • 5 - 8 years packaging experience in dietary supplement or consumer package goods industry
  • BS/BA degree in Packaging or a related Engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience
