Engineer, Controls & Automation 

San Fernando, California (Relocation & Bonus)

The Controls & Automation Engineer is responsible for the development & support of the West Coast production sites equipment controls and automation infrastructure.  This role leads the development of the controls and automation infrastructure at both our Manufacturing facility in San Fernando, Ca and our Packaging facility, Valencia, CA.  The Controls & Automation Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. 

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include: 

  • Is responsible for the assigned production sites controls and automation systems, along with the development and delivery of the sites automation and controls capital plans. 

  • Deliver controls and automation projects ensuring a deep level of input from the customer, leveraging Pharmavite’s project management methodology and good practice project management tools. 

  • Provides robust timely support to manufacturing operations.  Day to day production support is estimated to be approximately 15% of the time.  

  • Leads value creation by the identification, planning and implementation of new controls and automation to provide a competitive advantage to Pharmavite. 

  • Ensure controls and automation related projects are added to the site capital plans and multi-year capital Master Plans. 

The ideal candidate is recognized as strong controls engineer who is interested in automation and like the idea of supporting Pharmavite push automation to the next level.  You are detail orientated and good at problems solving.  At the same time, you enjoy leveraging your skills to coach and train others on how to fault find and problem solve control system issues. 

You’ll be most successful in this role if you have:  

  • Demonstrated project leadership following a structured Project Management process 

  • Translate automation and controls ideas for business benefit into real solutions 

  •  Ability to coach controls technicians and maintenance personal to be capable as the first line of controls support  in production areas 

In order to take on these challenges, you’ll need to have: 

  • Demonstrated capability with different control systems (e.g. Allen Bradley /  Rockwell etc) being  able to effectively modify Ladder Logic  

  • Ability to problem solve to a high level leveraging structured problem-solving techniques 

  •   Ability to demonstrate Pharmavite's values through team-based project delivery  

  • Excellent Written & Verbal Communication Skills and  be able to coach technicians 

  • Good Technical writing skills as well as a demonstrated ability to effectively manage change.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Controls Engineering or 5 years of equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.

Certification:

Lean certification is a plus.

Experience:

Requires experience in a production environment and has demonstrated the capability with different control systems (e.g. Allen Bradley, Rockwell) being able to effectively modify Ladder Logic.

Annual Pay

Annual Pay Range

$85,696.00 - $128,441.00

This represents the minimum and maximum base salary range for this role, plus annual incentive. Various elements are used to determine a candidate’s starting salary such as job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in the role.  This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws.
