West Hills, CA (Hybrid)

The Strategic Sourcing Category Manager is responsible for managing the entire value chain for a portfolio of critical raw and/or packaging materials. This includes supply chain risk analysis, development of vendor portfolio strategy, category strategies, supplier selection, negotiations, and New Project Development (NPD) support.  

 

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include: 

  • Works with internal stakeholders and suppliers to identify and deliver on cost savings opportunities annually as well as to develop a pipeline for future savings. 

  • Proactively identifies and drives risk mitigating plans to ensure supply assurance. 

  • Sources and selects suppliers, negotiates prices, and recommends purchases, to obtain the best possible prices while adhering to quality specifications, service demands and supplier innovation opportunities. 

  • Prepares and presents portfolio category and supply chain strategies to cross functional audience including Managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents. 

  • Actively supports New Product Development process by bringing new items and technologies from external sources. 

  • Is the subject matter expert in the assigned categories. Provides Pharmavite with market intelligence on portfolio items as well as marketplace trends. 

  • Uses structured approach and innovation to develop category strategies and drives implementation. 

  • Proactively manages supplier relationships including periodic cross functional supplier review sessions and/or risk analysis to drive overall supplier value improvement. 

  • Serves as a liaison between other departments and sourcing team to ensure adequate supplies of materials are available on hand when needed. 

  • Interfaces with Planning, Marketing, Innovation Team, R&D, Regulatory, Quality Control Department, Technical Operations and supplier to resolve quality and rejected materials problems to ensure manufacturing has highest quality of materials required. 

 

The ideal candidate is recognized as having strong procurement skills with the ability to lead teams, projects and various cost saving and infrastructure activities. You are a self-starter and result driven. You are a strategic thinker and love using data and metrics for informed decision making. At the same time, you enjoy working with and motivating others to success -- regardless of reporting lines and are comfortable operating with senior management. 

 

You'll be most successful in this role if you have: 

  • Strong analytical skills especially as it relates to total cost of ownership 

  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems and Excel 

  • Strong conflict management skills, broad procurement background, and understanding of supplier’s strengths, weaknesses, and competencies 

  • Strong communication skills both written and oral 

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity 

  • Ability to deliver results through category strategies and sourcing plans 

  • Ability to travel out of state or internationally up to 10% of the time 

 

In order to take on these challenges, you'll need to have: 

  • Bachelor's Degree required. MBA preferred. 

  • 5+ years of work experience including at least 2 years of experience in planning or sourcing ingredients and/or packaging components. 

  • Project management experience is a plus.

Annual Pay

Annual Pay Range

$95,893.00 - $143,891.00

This represents the minimum and maximum base salary range for this role, plus annual incentive. Various elements are used to determine a candidate’s starting salary such as job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in the role.  This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws.
