The Intern – Nutrition Science is responsible for searching and analyzing existing literature to evaluate health-related outcomes for certain ingredients. The Intern – Nutrition Science reports to the Manager, Nutrition Science.
Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:
Provide scientific analysis and interpretation of existing literature to determine health -related benefits of ingredients and/or new research opportunities
Summarize findings and present recommendations to key stakeholders within the organization
Develop consumer-facing messaging based on scientific analysis
Serve as a communicator on nutrition matters as necessary
Shadow nutrition scientists and learn about other technical functions
The ideal candidate is entering their 2nd year or higher of Graduate/Professional school student in areas of Nutrition Science, Food Science, Chemistry, or Pharmaceutical Science. You can understand, and translate scientific findings to consumer-friendly language, by identifying and analyzing existing literature to evaluate health-related benefits, summarizing learnings to assist in creating consumer-friendly scientific message based on business needs. Research experience with clinical and/or pre-clinical study design, development and execution, statistics, or lab work related to life science is preferred.
You’ll be most successful in this role if you have:
Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, evaluation of scientific research, study design, and analysis
Ability to apply knowledge of human physiology and clinical nutrition to interpret scientific data
Demonstrated skills in prioritization, time management, and project planning
Demonstrated ability to document and deliver results
In order to take on these challenges, you’ll need to have:
Graduate/Professional school student in areas of Nutrition Science, Food Science, Chemistry, or Pharmaceutical Science
Available 8-12 weeks starting between May and June 2023
Knowledge of physiology and/or nutrition
Ability to learn fast and integrate new learnings with existing knowledge and communicate these to manager and colleagues
Demonstrated skills in critical analysis of scientific results and computer literacy
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to convey scientific learnings understandably to non-scientists
Preferred: Courses and/or research experience related to nutrition science, statistics, pre-clinical and/or clinical study design

Annual Pay Range
$36,200.00 - $54,500.00This represents the minimum and maximum base salary range for this role, plus annual incentive. Various elements are used to determine a candidate’s starting salary such as job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in the role.
