The Manager, Strategic Sourcing Direct is an engaged and inspiring leader with a mastery of managing the function of Direct Sourcing for ingredients and will lead a team of 4 people. This role will deliver maximum total value to Pharmavite by delivering the annual operating plan, mitigating inflation risk, leveraging savings opportunities, and ensuring supply, through world class sourcing practices and development of a high performing team. The role will oversee a spend of approximately $200 - $300 million. The Manager will report into the Director, Strategic Sourcing Direct.  

Key Responsibilities 

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include: 

  • Responsible for leading the Direct Category Managers to develop sourcing category strategies, build expert knowledge on demand and supply market trends of direct raw material categories and drive cross-functional engagement for socializing and aligning on category strategies.   

  • Lead and support Category Managers in strategic sourcing activities such as execution of sourcing category strategy levers, conduct strategic supplier negotiations, manage supply risk and maintain supplier relationships to ensure best service, quality, price, and supply assurance.   

  • Identify and implement opportunities for Sourcing process improvements including the creation of Sourcing specific tools and templates, legal contracting, sourcing governance, supplier quality management.  

  • Responsible for delivery of the department budget, annual operating plan, savings pipeline, financial tasks, mitigation of inflation, and ensuring supply through mid-to-long term strategies and risk management programs. 

  • Build and lead a high performing team through continuous talent development and coaching. Develop and upskill team’s performance and skillsets via practicing breakthrough thinking, navigating complex challenges, delivering consistent results, and creating collaborative relationships. Key skillsets to develop include: Supplier Relationship Management, Price Risk Management, Negotiation Strategies, Market analytics and insights. 

  • Supports New Product Development (NPD) initiatives. 

  • Collaborates with cross-functional colleagues (Resource Center, NPD, Finance, Tech Ops, Planning, Quality, etc.) to deliver on annual operating plan and strategic priorities while mitigating supply risk and financial issues.  

  • Drive Direct Sourcing organization’s engagement with Resource Center to manage operational sourcing, contract administration, and data analytics.   

  • Works with Finance to optimize total delivered cost, provide accurate and timely financial reporting and forecasting, along with financial risk and opportunity assessments.

Critical Success Factors 

You’ll be most successful in this role if you have: 

  • Demonstrated history of delivering results through advanced strategic sourcing best practices. 

  • Ability to think through complex problems using analysis from multiple sources and compiling information into a clear framework and recommendation. 

  • Demonstrated history managing teams to achieve performance targets. 

  • Advanced communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to speak to different audiences. 

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, changing situations and priorities. 

  • Understand the Source to Pay (S2P) transactional process. 

  • Experience with building legal contracts and partnering with Legal to execute agreements.

Capabilities & Skills Required 

In order to take on these challenges, you’ll need to have: 

  • A four-year college or university degree from an accredited college or university.  

  • 7+ years of work experience including at least 6 years of experience in sourcing nutrition and/or food ingredients. 

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.  

  • Experience with leveraging COE and Resource Center models (analytics, market Intel, risk management, optimization best practices and talent development). 

  • Project management experience leading complex initiatives. across the organization.  

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience. 

  • Experience with commodity management, forecasting and financial modeling.  

  • Ability to travel International and domestic 10 – 20 percent of time.

Annual Pay

Annual Pay Range

$125,100.00 - $187,600.00

This represents the minimum and maximum base salary range for this role, plus annual incentive. Various elements are used to determine a candidate’s starting salary such as job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in the role.  This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws.
